About
Chatellier Consulting advises boards and senior executives on governance architecture, risk appetite and strategic transactions.
Operating at the intersection of strategy, accountability and execution, we support both sustained advisory and time-sensitive mandates, helping leadership teams navigate regulatory uncertainty, geopolitical fragmentation, and subsequent exposures.
Mandates frequently involve assessing institutional risk, informing board-level decision-making and ensuring governance holds under scrutiny. This includes regulatory trajectory interpretation, anticipating supervisory direction before formal guidance exists (“shadow guidance”), alongside executive counsel on organisational restructuring, strategic transactions and risk governance. Retainers combine ongoing counsel with board-level horizon briefings, providing leadership with advance warning of supervisory direction.

Principal
Founded by Kristen Chatellier, an English qualified solicitor with 17 years of legal and governance experience across international and regulated institutions.
Former Co-General Counsel and Executive Committee member, advising through regulatory enforcement actions (including a US$24 million SEC settlement), crisis escalations and periods of acute ambiguity in emerging technology and financial markets. Her experience reflects broader structural pressures on governance frameworks: accelerating legislative ambition, supervisory frameworks outpaced by technological change, and strategic change outpacing internal controls.
Her transaction record spans regulated infrastructure and financial markets, including a €1 billion investment in FCC Aqualia in Spain and a US$850 million investment in Mersin International Port in Turkey, in joint venture with the Port of Singapore Authority. She specialises in bespoke transaction structures, regulatory interpretation, organisational restructuring and risk governance, particularly where circumstances demand immediate response. She has built and led an international legal function and directed global external counsel panels across multiple jurisdictions, and has worked directly with securities and financial regulators including the SEC, the CFTC, BaFin, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission.
She completed the Saïd Business School, Oxford, executive programme in AI Ethics, Regulation and Compliance, and is a member of the European AI Alliance.
She has lived and worked in London, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong.
Where engagements require additional expertise, Chatellier Consulting works with a small network of trusted advisers across crisis leadership, organisational change and specialist regulatory domains.
